“ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT”

          We are in the era of a knowledge centric society. Today the world is racing towards development. Man needs knowledge from all walks of life. The knowledge of polity is no exception to this, our department is imparting the history knowledge of the students since the commencement of the college.

          The students of the department of History have come out with flying colours. Many of them successfully completed their Masters degree and are currently serving at various levels.

ESTABLISHMENT OF DEPARTMENT

          Department of History has been started in 1969 Political is offered with the combination of

  • History, Economics & Political Science. (HEP)
  • History, Political Science Sociology.(HPS)

National Education Policy 2020 was introduced in 2021. The department has taken admission of 206 students (161 students as DSC & 45 as OEC)

“VISION OF DEPARTMENT”

The History Department aims to make the students aware of the past and its legacies through teaching, research and extension activities in Indian history in the context of world history.  We believe that only a critical understanding of the past will enable the students to understand the present and help them look towards the future.

“MISSION OF DEPARTMENT”

  1. Transform the students into citizens who are critically informed about the past and its consequences for the present
  2. Promote studies in history, society and culture of Maharashtra in general and Maratha history in particular
  3. Empower students to cope with the challenges of globalization by instilling in them a life-long passion for learning about the past. The knowledge about the interconnections between the global, national, regional and local history will equip the students to face the challenges with confidence.
